I’m Tara! I am a paediatric occupational therapist and a mum-of-one. (Unless you count my fur baby, which I absolutely do.)
For the last 10 years, I’ve been working with children with disabilities, and I feel very honoured to be able to walk alongside these families on their unexpected parenting journey.
You might be wondering: what does a paediatric occupational therapist do? If children are experiencing difficulties in their development, which impacts their ability to participate at home, at childcare, at school or in the community, I help them to build their skills in different areas (like playing, eating, sleeping, interacting, drawing, writing, learning, toileting, bathing, dressing, behaviour, sensory processing and emotional regulation).
The best part of my job is that we disguise learning all these tricky skills with super fun play activities. So, basically I get to play all day!
My Instagram @lets_play_charlie started out of my passion for play. I love sharing the really simple activities that I do with Charlie, that can support the development of your child. (Also, your sanity, if it buys you enough time for a hot cup of tea!) I try to make use of items that are readily available at home, as well as tested products to support skill development.
I’m so excited to have you join us on our play adventure!
From Tara...
