19 Sydney Businesses To Support Right Now

In addition to all of the extra reading, watching, listening we've been doing in lockdown, Team Go-To has also found a few very excellent businesses. So we've decided to gather 11 of our favourites and share them with you. (We're generous like that.)

19 Sydney Businesses To Support Right Now

The Slow Mo Co
If you like doing yoga (or if you just like laying down in corpse pose), get a bolster. It'll be the unlikely purchase that improves your lockdown life. Perfect for at-home yin yoga, and for a supportive seat, and for days when you need to streeeeetch everything out. (Always.) The bolsters from The Slow Mo Co are extra lovely because they're handmade using fabric salvaged from landfill. But mostly, they're just incredibly comfy. (And if you get an eye pillow and a neck pillow while you're there, I won't judge.)

Continental Delicatessen, Newtown & CBD
If you’re in the mood for delicious deli-style food then Continental Deli is a must! Their menu is so varied - from soups, sandwiches (that are to die for), cheese and charcuterie, to pasta and hearty meat and fish dishes. To top it all off, they also sell killer cocktails for you to enjoy from the comfort of your couch. They’re ready-made, canned cocktails that taste almost as good as they look. My go-to order is their meatball and parmesan sandwich and a negroni. I’m instantly transported to the Mediterranean (one can only wish).

The Golden Gully, Leichhardt
For amazing cocktails (served by awesome staff) Wednesday — Saturday, which just so happens to be when I really need one. And if you want some food with your liquor, The Golden Gully also happen to be one of the best vegetarian restaurants in the inner west!
Rowena, Art Director

Dalton and Hughes
So many of us have missed celebrating milestone birthdays, anniversaries and really, well, everything with our friends and family. Being able to send something special to help celebrate remotely, while no replacement for a party, has been my joy over the last few months. My favourite is a celebration tipple, hand delivered by Sydney locals Holly and Sophie at Dalton and Hughes. Whether champagne, wine, cocktails or whisky each gift comes with the most beautiful vintage crystal glasses, and is wrapped in Japanese fabric and a posy of native flowers. My favourite is the cocktail hamper - stylish, special and delicious!
Leonie, CMO

The General, Dulwich Hill
By the end of the week I’m looking for a date night meal, and absolutely loving the ‘Dinner for Two’ put on by The General Eatery. Each week it is a different meal which you pre-order, to be delivered (or pickup) on the Saturday. All you have to do is a little ‘finishing off’ and serve. It feels like a night off cooking, yet so much more enjoyable than takeaway. So far my favourites have been Corn Fritter Taco and Margarita’s, and Slow Cooked Ragu Pasta, Rocket & Pear Salad, Passionfruit Curd Pavlova with Espresso Martinis.
Rowena, Art Director

Arthur’s Pizza
Whether you’re too lazy to cook or you just want to have a weekend (or even a weekday) pizza party while binge watching your favourite show on Netflix, Arthur’s Pizza is one that is guaranteed to satisfy your pasta cravings. Forget Domino’s, forget Pizza Hut. Arthur’s got the best tasting bang-for-the-buck pizza in town. What’s best, they have locations in Bexley, Glebe, Rosebery, Paddington, Randwick, and Maroubra, AND they deliver!

Better Read Than Dead, Newtown
Books! They’re one of the only things breaking up the monotony of the day and I’m allowing myself one 14 new tomes more often in lockdown precisely because of that. I love Better Read Than Dead in Newtown and even though I can’t browse (who doesn’t love the smell of a book shop??!) I can still order whatever I please and get recommendations from the team.

Brooklyn Boy Bagels, Marrickville
When Sydney’s lockdown first started, 156 weeks ago, my partner and I were sent 10 bagels as a treat. Under normal circumstances, that would be a lot for two people. But carbs don’t count right now and it turned out to be surprisingly doable and unsurprisingly delicious. The bagels in question were from Brooklyn Boy (who deliver Sydney-wide) and I’m a big fan of the sesame and blueberry versions. I’m not saying you should go and get 10 right now, buuuut I’m not not saying that, either.

Milly Hill Farm
During lockdown 1.0, Neil Perry disclosed one of his top meat suppliers that suddenly needed support. Usually only accessible to fine dining restaurants, Milly Hill Farm have a distribution centre in Sydney and offer free delivery for all orders over $200. Family-owned, and based in northern NSW, they specialise in all things lamb (and the quality is unbelievable) but they also offer every other cut of meat. The best restaurant quality eye fillet steaks for $12. Their prices are comparable to Woolies but the quality is way beyond. If you close your eyes you can imagine you’re sitting in Rockpool!

Pina, Potts Point
Move over Bill’s scrambled eggs, there is a new egghead in town. Pina in Potts Point has become my lockdown staple and for good bloody reason. The food is life-changingly good and the constant queues for takeaway (and a table in non-lockdown) tell me, I am not alone. A scrambled egg snob, these are the best I’ve (simple, creamy, perfect chive to pepper ratio) but if that doesn’t butter your bread; they’ve got salads, Insta-famous bacon and egg rolls, sandwiches and a bunch of other stuff that reads simple but is anything but.

Butter Boy, Manly
Is anyone else a sucker for a giant cookie?! If you have a serious sweet-tooth (like me!) and the general taste-buds of a small child, you have to check out Butter Boy. They create the most decadent cookies with flavours like Matcha Brownie Sandwich, Golden Gaytime and Birthday Cake. But if you’re going to BB, you gotta do it right - the Snickerdoodle (with Biscoff filling) is a game-changer. The Manly bakery is doing a ‘Lockdown Tour’ and announces a selection of new delivery suburbs every week - so pick up a biccie, order a delivery or nab a cookie dough mix to bake your own, and thank me later.

La Bufala, Mascot
If you have a weakness for pizza, you need to give La Bufala’s Neapolitan woodfire pizzas a go. Their toppings are fresh and classically Italian, paired with thin bases and blistered crusts. My favourite pizzas from them are the Burrata and the Prosciutto - they are simply delicious and I’m never not craving for them (it’s heaven with a glass of wine)! I also heavily recommend the Sir Truffelot burger. La Bufala hosts functions, do catering and have a food truck available for private hire and events - very handy for post-lockdown life!
Yvonne, Social Media Manager

ButterCrumbs, Five Dock
Fancy a buttery, flakey, baked treat? Who doesn’t! With a line usually out the door, ButterCrumbs croissant bakery in Five Dock delights this local on a (very) (maybe too very) regular basis. If you just so happen to plan your morning walk past there to pick up a ham and cheese croissant for brekky, wonderful! And while you’re there, you might as well grab an apple turnover for later, oh and a raspberry danish for later-later.

Small Talk, Dulwich Hill
Definitely check out Small Talk in Dulwich Hill. It’s located on the slightly quieter stretch of New Canterbury Road. They do the best Montreal-style bagels in Sydney. Go for the BLT or the Breaky bagel and you’ll be set. Everyone that works there is an absolute delight.
Matt, Graphic Designer

Paddington Alimentari, Paddington
If you happen to be around Paddo, do yourself a favour and head to Paddington Alimentari on William Street. Part deli, part cafe, it’s like a little slice of Italy - the next best thing until borders open and we’re allowed to travel again! I’m partial to their caprese panini, but you can’t go wrong with their pastries either. There’s also a cute little courtyard at the back, perfect to have breakfast in!
Andrea, Ecommerce Manager

Zoe Martin Makeup, Sutherland Shire
Smokey eye and glossy skin aficionado, Zoe Martin is a bridal and event MUA, and a bloody talented one at that. If you’ve got a wedding or a night out (yknow, when that’s a thing again), you need to follow her (Here! Go!) for makeup inspo, like, now. And if you’re in the Sutherland Shire/South Coast area, book the wizard!
Georgia, Group Marketing and Content Coordinator

The Spot Cellars, Randwick
This is a relatively new store, stocking a very fun range of beer, wine and spirits. During lockdown they expanded their service to include a wider variety of natural wines, fresh bread (you will want to get the olive twisty one), pastries, eggs and all you could want for a cheese board. Jeff and Hamish are the owners and also deliver to your door, all you have to do is text them! They are a very knowledgeable and friendly team and you find them on Instagram right here.

Brewtown Newtown
Delicious pastries, gourmet breakfasts, coffee and cakes! What more could you ask for? Brewtown also (imo) has the best sandwiches, if you’re ever in Newtown try the Philli Cheese Steak sandwich. You’re welcome.
Falisha, Community Coordinator

BundlFresh, Northern Beaches
Your Northern Beaches Market online! Need baked goods? Flowers? Eggs? BundlFresh have got it all! You can choose different products from loads of your fave local Northern Beaches stores, and they’ll be bundled together and delivered to your door quick-smart! I treated my parents to a bundle with scones and cakes from Mrs Jones the Bakery, and a charming bunch of flowers from The Plant Stylist. Delicious and delightful!
