CEO, sister to Kirsten, and real Go-To customer, Amanda wasn’t always the skintellectual she is today. After many years of some questionable habits (“cake of soap to wash my face”) and an even more questionable routine mantra (“just water from a dirty puddle”), she’s hit her skincare stride in her 40s with some clinically-proven staples and ultra-nourishing ingredients. We decided to ask Amanda, how do you skincare?

Star Sign: Libra (very balanced! haha)

Skin Type: Bit of a combination, depending on the season.

Skin Concerns: Fine lines, tired eyes, darkening age spots, dry/red patches caused by stress.

Your Routine In A Few Words: Time-poor excellence!

AM Routine

  1. Either Juicy Gel or Properly Clean in the shower (what ever my half-asleep brain grabs first)

  2. Much Brighter Skin

  3. Much Plumper Skin

  4. Face Hero

  5. Nifty Fifty OG

(Completely guilty of not letting them fully dry in between, however, I only give myself 20 mins to shower and get ready to go in the morning as I prefer to sleep as long as I can until it’s urgent to get up!).

PM Routine

I am a PM skin routine nightmare, but when I remember, I use:

  1. If I have worn foundation or eye makeup, I would apply Fancy Face before I jump in the shower. Love that Fancy Face does not irritate my eyes while removing the eye makeup.

  2. Properly Clean in the shower

  3. Apply Very Amazing Retinal (probably works out to be 2–3 times per week on average).

I also do The Repair Shop/The Removalist combo about once a fortnight.

Any Skincare AdviceWear sunscreen, even on overcast days! And find what works for you and the time you have to do a routine, even if it is just the bare basics.

Skincare Sin: As mentioned above, DEFINITELY the sin of sleeping with makeup on. I have been doing that since I first started wearing proper makeup in 2001! Old filthy habits die hard! And 20 odd years later, I am still guilty of it! Also, does over plucking of eyebrows in the ‘90s fall into this category?!

How Your Relationship With Skincare Has Changed: I decided in my 40s that I should at least try harder. I was told when I was 18 by a skincare therapist that even if I washed my face with just water from a dirty puddle every day (in her words), that it would still look good. So I think I hung onto that advice for far too long, and used a cake of soap to wash my face for 20 or so years! And that was still when I remembered! Hindsight is fun, and Gen Z, don't listen to advice like that.

Where Do Your Skincare: Shower and in my bathroom

Why Do You Skincare: To try and prolong the dreaded thought of getting botox! I don't like needles!
